Warrior Wednesday: Competition & Reddit

WARRIOR WEDNESDAY

Last week I was browsing reddit (like the degenerate I am) and I came across a story that I want to share with you:

John (No idea what his real name is) went to an event where everyone was smarter, wealthier, and harder working.

At first this made him quite uncomfortable and anxious and he tried to make himself look and sound better than he was.

In reality none of those people gave a sh*t what he was or wasn’t and after having a conversation with a friend that was also at the event he came to this realization:

“Why am I busy competing when I could be busy learning?”

He realized that he was in a place where literally everyone could teach him something valuable.

Instead of feeling sorry for himself for the rest of the event he dove into learning, taking notes, and meeting people.

I think we all get caught up in these self imposed competitions. This is especially bad now with social media. Its never been easier to compare yourself to others or find someone who is doing better than you.

If you take a step back and think about this its one of the least productive things you could be doing.

When given an opportunity to learn or when you're in a place where you maybe don’t quite belong, I encourage you to be the guy who is taking notes, learning, and meeting people.

No one that is truly doing better than you will think less of you for this, BUT they will think less of you if you pretend to be something you aren’t.

This week find an area of your life that you can forget all the self imposed competition and just learn.

Much love,

Ben & Tim - The Warrior Philosophy Team
